Interactive fashion parade benefits both charity and students

Monday, 04 August 2008

Eight Fashion students from Challenger TAFE will be competing in the 4th bi-annual Zedz hair, beauty and fashion show that will raise money for the McCusker Research Foundation for Alzheimer’s at the Swan Yacht Club on 11th August.

The show will open with a dazzling fashion parade of professional models dressed by Challenger TAFE’s emerging fashion designers. These final-year students have chosen a piece to showcase at the event and will have a hairdresser and makeup artist to help bring their design to life and so present an entire look that reflects their piece. Makeup artists from the beauty department at Challenger TAFE are also be involved in the preparations, which offer a fantastic opportunity to experience a real-life event in a professional setting.

“The students will be experiencing a genuinely live work experience,” explained Zedz owner, Terrina Brown.

“So they will be working under the same conditions and experiences they are likely to encounter at an industry fashion parade.”

The Certificate IV in Applied Design and Technology students are currently studying at the College’s Fremantle Campus and Visage Fashion Studio.

A judging panel of five and a guest from each table will vote to choose the winner of the student parade who, along with the model, hair and makeup artist will be awarded a professional photo shoot of their graduation collection at the end of the year.

Zedz will also showcase fifty models aged between 22 – 65 years of age in the second part of the show. Each section will consist of six salon models within a five-year age bracket, showing six different colours and cuts. The models will be dressed by a local fashion house and makeup will be done by Zedz Spa du Jour. Guests will be able to choose styles and cuts that are suitable for them within their age group and there will be a show running card that includes the designer, model, stylist and outfit for each section. Guests will be invited to tick their favourite looks and then bring this card into the salon on their next visit.

This show is held for Zedz clients, peers and for the general public and 150 – 200 guests are expected on the night. Members of the public can purchase tables of ten or individual tickets.

Those wishing to purchase tickets can do so from Zedz direct on 9319 1016. Tickets are $45 and include a fantastic goodie bag with $5 from every sale being donated to the McCusker Research Foundation for Alzheimer’s. Ticket prices also include finger food and drinks.

L’Oreal, Keratase, GHD, American Crew, Guinot, Sebastian, Get Frocked and Petite Florist are sponsors of the event.
