Administrative & census dates

Census dates occur when you have reached a minimum of 20% of study for your unit or course enrolment.

A census date is the date that a student incurs a VET FEE-HELP debt ( for fees) of the units undertaken.

If you have taken out a VET FEE-HELP loan; you will not incur a debt if you withdraw on or before the Census date.

If you withdraw after the Census Date has passed; you will not receive a refund if you have paid upfront; and you will be liable for the full debt if you have taken out a VET FEE-HELP loan.
In addition to the census date, South Metropolitan TAFE may set an earlier administrative date or timely enrolment amendment date (before the census date) for the submission of the Request for VET FEE-HELP loan, and the payment of any up-front tuition fees. If you do not meet this earlier administrative date, you will be liable to pay all fee's relating to that unit of study.

It is YOUR responsibility to check administrative dates, for the deadline to submit a Request for VET FEE-HELP loan. An administration date does not affect the census date and you will not incur a VET FEE-HELP debt until after the census date has occured.

2016 Fees and Census dates for VET FEE-HELP
You are reminded that it is your responsibility to ensure you have sufficient FEE-HELP balance to cover the VET FEE-HELP assistance amounts indicated in your Enrolment Invoice Receipt/Notice and that any debts to the Commonwealth arising from your VET FEE-HELP loan will remain as a personal debt obligation until it is repaid to the Commonwealth. If you have taken out the VET FEE-HELP loan, you are reminded that this may affect (by reducing) your take-home (after-tax) wage or salary until the debt is repaid, and may affect your borrowing capacity until the debt is repaid to the Commonwealth.
