This course comprises training at South Metropolitan TAFE and structured work experience in the plumbing and gas fitting trade area. It is designed to enhance skill development in all aspects of basic plumbing. 

Pre-apprentice course graduates need to be indentured by an employer before they can progress to apprentice training, however graduates have an improved chance of gaining an apprenticeship as they have covered part of the off-the-job training and gained valuable practical experience on-the-job. 

Note: Course may have competitive entry. 

This qualification is run at South Metropolitan TAFE over a 12 week period, where there are two courses running each semester (6 month time period).

Domestic full time students:

Course fees are made up of two components, tuition fees and resource fees.

Part time student fees will vary depending on the number of units you are enrolled in. Please note, you may also need to buy textbooks or equipment for your course.

Tuition fees:

these fees apply to all qualifications - including apprenticeships and traineeships - except access and bridging courses. Please note that you may be eligible for a concession on tuition fees. Please contact the Institute for concession categories. 

Resource fees:

this fee covers the cost of materials and consumables provided by South Metropolitan TAFE. Resource fees vary depending on the content of the course. Some courses such as marine studies, fishing operations, horticulture and outdoor recreation, incur high resource fees.​​
